It Turns Out British McDonald's Fries Have Way Fewer Ingredients Than American Ones

YUM! I love the smell of dimethylpolysiloxane in the morning. UPDATED: There are only four ingredients in the British recipe!

We got in touch with McDonald's in the UK after reading this story claiming that the UK recipe is different to the one detailed below.

    A spokesman said:

"The only ingredients in our UK Fries are potatoes, vegetable oil (a blend of sunflower and rapeseed) and dextrose (predominantly added at the beginning of the potato season) with nothing added except a sprinkling of salt after cooking. Customers can request that their Fries are served without salt."

    Rule Britannia.

In this video, Grant Imahara "reverse engineers" McDonald's fries.

And in this video, he talks us through the ingredients.

Here's the end of the process: the potatoes being frozen.

    Before that, they're partially fried.

And before that, you have the ingredient dip, whereby the fries are made golden.

    Right. Making chips. These potatoes...

...are about to be fired through here...

And the film ends in heartwarming fashion as our hero digs up an actual potato, which is what McDonald's wants you to know is what they use.
