Do You Remember The Most Offensive Television Story Of The '90s?

    Obviously, it was on Passions.

Passions, a daytime soap opera, debuted July 5, 1999 on NBC.

And for a show that featured storylines like demonic possession, an intersex serial killer, incest, and castration in mausoleums — you'd be surprised that one of its most horrific moments was during the week it debuted.

Sheridan Crane, heiress to the Crane fortune, was nowhere to be found in the small town of Harmony where Passions was set. Instead she was wandering the streets of Paris heartbroken.

She visited a cathedral, daily, to pray for a friend she'd recently lost.

After a lot of sturm und drang, Sheridan finally revealed to a Priest the name of the friend she had lost.

YES. THIS HEFFA'S "DEAD FRIEND" WAS NONE OTHER THAN DIANA, PRINCESS OF WALES.

As if that wasn't enough, Sheridan was worried that she was going to DIE JUST LIKE DIANA. For no goddamn reason.

But then, of course, because this is Passions and the show has no chill, SHERIDAN IS CHASED DOWN BY PAPARAZZI. JUST LIKE DIANA.

AND THEN THE HEFFA DIES. JUST. LIKE. DIANA.

Until, of course, DIANA VISITS HER FROM BEYOND THE GRAVE AND URGES HER TO LIVE.

    LITERALLY BYE, PASSIONS.
