    1. These splendid illustrations are the work of Geoffrey Hewer-Candee.

    2. He tells BuzzFeed News: that he "started the series as a challenge to myself to come up with a new one daily."

    3. He says he "loves animals, and finds them more interesting to draw than people."

    4. "By using animals it allows me to address human issues that are part of daily life, but in a recontextualized way."

    5. "This slight skew allows the problem to hit the viewer in a way that wouldn't happen if I drew people."

    6. "A lot of my work has an undercurrent of sadness or futility, which I find, in general, really enriches humour."

    7. "A friend of mine referred to them as 'sadorable,' which I think fits quite nicely."

    8. "The thing I love about the series is the range that it allows me."

    9. "I can have one that's mainly just a visual gag, one that comments on serious societal issues, one that plays with language, one that's more animal-y – and yet they're still cohesive as a whole."

    10. "And most of all, I just hope that people enjoy them."

    11. "To me, the most important thing about art in general is for it to be enjoyable."

    12. "Be it a painting, cartoon, story, whatever, the viewer needs to get some form of enjoyment out of it for one reason or another. Anything else isn't worth it."

    13. "I don't have too many favorite individual artists; I more find individual pieces of art here and there that really affect me."

    14. "There's an English illustrator, Sophie Corrigan, I found recently whose work I like quite a bit. Ryan Andrews is another artist I found online, and his stories/illustrations are amazing."

    15. "I'm also thrilled at how the internet has allowed me to come across artists I may otherwise have never found."

    16. "Also, since the verbal side of art/humor is important to be along with the visual, I must mention how much I love the TV shows Home Movies and Dr. Katz Professional Therapist."

    17. "And for "real art" (because often us poor old designers and illustrators live in the sooty shadows of "proper art") I'm quite fond of Dufy and Renoir."
