Alex Travis, 17, noticed a sinking car in a nearby reservoir and instinctively dove into the water to the rescue Stuart Deland, 93, from drowning.

With the car almost completely underwater, Alex broke the window and carried the man 15 feet to shore.

"It didn't even feel real to me," he said. "I didn't really feel like it was that big of a deal. It was the right thing to do. It doesn't make me a hero."

Having suffered from a brain abscess at 10 years old, Keri Jucha is hoping to provide current patients with an updated play room. Now 17, Jucha wants to give back to the hospital that made her feel so welcome. To date she has raised more than $22,000 by selling handmade jewelry.

“My goal was to bring normalcy to the hospital,” she said. “For me, it wasn’t this big scary place where I’d never want to go back again. I want kids and patients to have as much fun as I did.”

Tyler Doohan woke up six relatives who all made their way to safety. He then gave his life by heading back into the blaze to attempt to rescue his 57-year-old grandfather who was still asleep inside.
