We Made REAL "Timbits Poutine" And Dared To Try It

Someone had to do it*. (*No one had to do it.)

ICYMI, Tim Hortons introduced the "Timbits Poutine" at the Ex in Toronto last week. It was a cute nod to Canadian cuisine — I guess, sure.

For A Limited Time Only at @LetsGoToTheEX Inside the Food Building. #timbitspoutine #CNE2015

    BUT IT'S NOT POUTINE.

Tim Horton's Timbits Poutine. A bit of disappointment. Nothing special. Just whip cream on #Timbits #dessert #cne

So we, as hungry vigilantes, decided to do "Timbits Poutine" justice — And create the more accurate concoction...

We took 1-part gravy, 1-part cheese curds, and a box of sour-glazed timbits* (the guest appearance and substitute for fries).

    And put it all together:

    ☻Create a bed of timbits

    ☻Dribble gravy on top

    ☻Add cheese curds

    ☻Douse it in more gravy

    The result: Mmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm............................................................?

We then tasted our innovative-gastronomically-disruptive-but-mostly-sacrilegious-and-disturbing creation.

The emotions were very mixed heading into the taste test:

But we all kept an open mind and clean palate. Alas, the moment of truth...

To no one's surprise, some of us immediately hated it.

    "No."

    "Nope."

"It's like you're violating the laws of the universe. It's not awful, but it's not something I would voluntarily consume. Ever. Again."

BUT TO EVERYONE'S SURPRISE, SOME OF US DID NOT HATE IT. And actually started to enjoy it after a few more bites.

"The gravy is sweet too, so it all becomes a gooey, sweet mess."

"I like the sugar... Then the cheese curd kicks in and almost ruins it for me. But overall, I could sit here and just eat the shit out of this."

**BONUS** One of us enjoyed our Timbits Poutine so much, we upped the ante and challenged him to try it with chocolate timbits.

    He enjoyed it more.

    Smh.
