A South Carolina mom's April Fools' Day prank went awry when she was arrested for pretending that there was a shooting at the college where she works.
Angela Timmons, 54, who works at Virginia College in Greenville, allegedly texted her daughter, "could hear gun shots being fired inside the school."
Timmons' daughter frantically called 911 and told them, "My mother works at Virginia College and she just called me saying that they're hiding in a file cabinet office because there are gunshots on campus."
Sheriff Chuck Wright said he was expecting the worst while rushing to the school. "On the way over there I’m thinking Columbine High School, Sandy Hook, Virginia Tech, and I could name more," he said.
Timmons' daughter called 911 all the way from Tampa, Fla., after her mom stopped responding to her.
After the investigation lead to Timmons, she allegedly told police she had played this type of joke before. She was charged with aggravated breach of peace and disturbing a school.
"I'm not very happy about this," Sheriff Wright told WYFF. "That is not a good April Fools' joke."
