There's no doubt that gorehounds love Lucio Fulci for his series of surreal, ultra-gory zombie films and who wouldn't?! Forget a plot that makes sense, these movies were all about visual horror and terror. From a spider attack to acid burning and this impressive headshot. If you're a zombie fan, you NEED to see these!

The Beyond; 1980

What is it with Italian horror films of the 70s/80s and the blind? In Fulci's violent zombie flick, The Beyond the trusty canine companion takes a sudden bite, leaving blood gushing out of the wound!

The New York Ripper; 1982

Italian Cinema of the 70s and the 80s had a particular fascination with voyeurism. From the close ups of eyes in Spaghetti Westerns to horror. They loved their eyes! Fulci enjoyed playing with this idea too. Besides the gore, he's known for his constant eye close ups seen in many of his films. He couldn't resist shocking the audience with some gory eye-trama. The perfect metaphor for violent/horror cinema and voyeurism...with a healthy bout of Un Chien Andalou inspired shock. Banned on it's original release and still slightly cut in the UK, this needs to be seen!

Quack! Quack! Quack!

Zombie Flesh Eaters; 1979

Perhaps the most famous of Fulci's eye-trama scenes, here a young lady is grabbed by an attacking undead and shoved eye-first into a splinter. Although not an official Video Nasty, it still got caught up in the VHS witch-hunt of the 80s. Fulci's fascination with voyeurism is at it's best here. Just moments after we get an eyeful of this lady naked in the shower, 'we' get jabbed in the eye with some wood! Ouch! It's no wonder why this is often seen as Fulci's very best film. It gave the world the unforgettable Zombie Vs. Shark battle after all!

City Of The Living Dead; 1980

In Italian horror, if you see this cult actor, Giovanni Lombardo Radice you know things are probably not going to end very well for him. Whether he's the main course of a Cannibal dinner, the victim of revenge or Fulci's drill buddy - he's in trouble!

Fulci proves it's not just the living dead that you need to fear, but the very-much living, very-much psychotic too!

City Of The Living Dead; 1980

Vomiting up your guts? Fulci at his most splendid. Quick! Pass the sick bag - I'm having a mouth prolapse!

Cat In The Brain (Nightmare Concert); 1990)

One of Fulci's final films before his untimely death in 1996, this odd little horror stars the Italian Godfather himself! Known for his fun cameos in his movies - think of him as an Italian version of Hitchcock if you like! - here he plays the lead character, Dr. Lucio Fulci. Original character name! Fulci dabbles in post-modern horror as Fulci plays a gory horror director who begins to question his sanity. Cue lots and lots and lots of gore! Bring out the chainsaw! Originally refused a classification from the BBFC and featuring footage from his other movies, it's a gorehound's paradise!

Don't Torture A Duckling; 1972

If falling to your death wasn't bad enough, Fulci has to have this fellow's face grazing against the cliff, tearing of his skin in this unmissable giallo!

The House By The Cemetery; 1981

Ever feared what's in your basement? Fulci takes that terror to the extremes with this surreal, dreamlike horror with a Frankenstein-esque zombie 'living' in the basement of a house. Knives through heads, death of a....mannequin, a bat attack and kiddy trauma make this another Fulci classic. Let's not forget it also stars one of the most annoying kids in horror; Bob!

A Lizard In Woman's Skin; 1971

Perhaps the most controversial scene of this classic giallo involves the gory experiments on couple of dogs - complete with beating heart and organs! The scene was so realistic at the time that the special effects artist, Carlo Rambaldi had to bring the animatronic dog to court in order to save Fulci from a 2 year prison sentence! It's even thought to be the very first time this had happened in film!

Aenigma (Daemonia); 1987)

Though not Fulci's best film, how can you not love this gruesome scene?! Now that's going to leave a mark in the morning...

Contraband; 1980

Just look at that gore-geous artwork!

Fulci's dabble in the Italian crime genre proved to be one of his very best films and one of his goriest too! With face burning, gruesome headshots and lots more, this is a must for fans of gore, crime and Fulci. The upcoming Shameless release of the film is the first time it's been passed UNCUT in the UK! With a limited edition lenticular cover of one of the best gory moments, this will be definitely stand out in your collection!
