Worf And Troi Try To Identify Their Looks From "Star Trek: The Next Generation"

With all the wigs and frocks they wore throughout the series, it was not easy.

Over seven seasons, the cast of Star Trek: The Next Generation went through many different looks, and no one more so than actors Michael Dorn (as Lt. Worf) and Marina Sirtis (as Counselor Troi). With the recent Blu-ray release of both Season 6 of Star Trek: TNG and one of the best episodes of the series, the dark two-part episode titled "Chain of Command," BuzzFeed invited both actors to revisit several of their looks from all seven seasons of the show.

The process proved to be not so easy!

    1. We started simple, with one of Troi's dresses.

    Michael’s guess: Season 3

    Marina's guess: Season 4

    1. Which season was it?

      Correct!
      Wrong!

It was Season 3, Episode 24: "Ménage à Troi"

"That was when that [dress] was introduced," said Marina. "I hate that dress."

    2. Next, we turned to Worf in uniform.

    Michael’s guess: Season 1

    Marina's guess: Season 1

    1. Which season was it?

      Correct!
      Wrong!

It was Season 2, Episode 8: "A Matter of Honor"

As part of an officer exchange program, Riker (Jonathan Frakes) is stationed as first officer on a Klingon ship, while Worf contends with a Benzite newly stationed on the Enterprise.

    They were both surprised!

    3. Then things got much more interesting.

"That was the episode where I got old," said Marina — which was correct! But could she remember in which season that happened?

    Michael’s guess: Season 5

    Marina's guess: Season 4

    1. Which season was it?

      Correct!
      Wrong!

It's Season 6, Episode 3: "Man of the People"

Both Michael and Marina thought this episode in which an empath dumps his negative emotions into Troi — making her a sex-pot harridan — came much earlier in the series.

This is really hard, you guys.

    4. Indeed, it seemed their memories of the episodes themselves were stronger than their memories of where those episodes fell over the course of the series.

"It's the first part of a two-part Worf episode," said Michael — also spot on.

    Michael’s guess: Season 5

    Marina's guess: Season 5

    1. Which season was it?

      Correct!
      Wrong!

It was Season 4, Episode 26: "Redemption, Part 1"

When the Klingon Empire falls into civil war, Worf resigns from Starfleet to join the cause. "I was going to say 4, I was going to say 4!" protested Michael.

    5. They both reacted strongly to Troi's enormous hair from this episode.

    Michael’s guess: "I remember the hair. I think that's Season 4."

    Marina's guess: "I'm very skinny. I'm thinking that's Season 6."

    1. Which season was it?

      Correct!
      Wrong!

It was Season 5, Episode 5: "Disaster"

When a calamity cripples the Enterprise, Troi ends up as the ranking officer on the bridge, and has to take command.

    6. How would they handle Worf in all black?

    Michael’s guess: Season 7

    Marina's guess: "That's Season 6 or 7."

    1. Which season is it?

      Correct!
      Wrong!

      It's Season 6, Episode 17: "Birthright, Part 2"

Worf infiltrates a Klingon POW camp in Romulan space and discovers it has become a quasi-peaceful colony.

The trip down memory lane provided some surprises.

    7. The game had proven so difficult that doubt began to set in.

Marina's guess: "I only had my hair like that for one season. And I want to say Season 5."

    Michael: "No."

    Marina's second guess: "Season 4."

    Michael’s guess: "I say Season 7."

    1. Which season was it?

      Correct!
      Wrong!

It's Season 6, Episode 10: "Chain of Command, Part 1"

A new captain on the Enterprise (Ronny Cox) orders Troi to start wearing a standard uniform while on duty — a costume change Troi would keep for the rest of the series.

Contrary to some Trek lore, Marina said she didn't request for Troi to start wearing a uniform — but she was very glad it happened.

    8. Things were getting dire as they approached the final costume. "Let's try to get this one right," Michael told Marina. But they were thrown once again by Worf's look here. At least, at first.

Quickly, however, they amped up their investigative skills.

Marina recognized her shoulder in the bottom corner of the shot.

And after Michael made a crucial observation, they were ready to make their final guesses.

    Michael’s guess: Season 7

    Marina's guess: Season 7

    1. Which season was it?

      Correct!
      Wrong!

They were right! It was Season 7, Episode 11: "Parallels"

Worf starts jumping through parallel universes and lands in one in which he and Troi are married and have children. It is a surprising development for him.

So Michael got two right, and Marina got, well, one-and-a-half.
