These Magazine Covers On Ferguson Are Chilling

"Hands up, don't shoot."

On Friday, the New Yorker released the cover for its upcoming issue on the crisis in Ferguson.

In an eerie illustration that resembles an oil painting, a number of figures illuminated by headlights from a military tank raise their hands above their heads in tribute to Michael Brown.

The New Yorker isn't the only national magazine to dedicate its cover to the ongoing clashes in the Missouri town where police office Darren Wilson shot 18-year-old Michael Brown earlier this month.

In their covers released on Thursday, Time and Businessweek both made reference to the now-iconic phrase used by protesters, "Hands up, don't shoot." The Time cover shows a man kneeling in front of what appears to be a tank, while the Businessweek cover shows a child raising her hands.

Both images were taken by photographer Scott Olson, who was arrested in Ferguson earlier this month.
