These Retouched Vintage Photos Make The Past A Little More Magical

Artist Jane Long's imagination will make you smile.

When Australia-based digital artist Jane Long stumbled across a WWI archive on Flickr, it sparked an idea.

Not only did Romanian photographer Costică Acsinte (left) capture wartime moments, he opened his own studio after being discharged.

About 5,000 of his glass-plate negatives now live at the Ialomița County Museum in Romania where a sole volunteer is slowly digitizing them to preserve history.

The photographs weren't kept in the best conditions — but that didn't stop Long from filling in the blanks.

Like these polite sailors about to embark on a sea adventure.
