Salman Khan's Five-Year Jail Sentence Has Been Suspended By Bombay High Court

    Thirteen years after a hit-and-run took a man's life and left others injured, the Bombay High Court has suspended the five-year sentence for accused actor Salman Khan, who was driving under the influence of alcohol that night.

    The Bombay High Court has suspended Salman Khan's sentence. The star has been granted bail, pending his sentence even further.

    The Bombay High Court has granted Salman Khan interim bail for two days. Senior lawyer Harish Salve argued for Salman Khan’s defence.

    Salman Khan has been sentenced to five years in jail for culpable homicide. If the actor choses to apply for bail, he will have to submit that appeal to the High Court.

    A sessions court in Mumbai released a verdict on the 2002 hit-and-run case of Salman Khan on Wednesday, finding him guilty of all charges in his 2002 hit-and-run case.

    After the verdict was announced, media reports state that the media and the police who were securing the court house engaged in a physical altercation.

    Khan's defence have also argued that he is suffering from a brain condition that will become worse if he is sent to jail.

    They are also reportedly submitting balance sheets of the Being Human Foundation, Khan's charitable organisation, to showcase his contribution to society.

    The sentencing has been reportedly delayed, as there has been a power cut.
