2007 was truly the year of vampire books.

1. Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows by J.K. Rowling

The final book in the beloved series broke records across the country, selling 8.3 million copies in the United States alone.

2. A Thousand Splendid Suns by Khaled Hosseini

Original pub date: May 22, 2007

This was Hosseini's follow-up to his his first book, The Kite Runner, which was adapted into a movie. A Thousand Splendid Suns sold a million copies within its first week, spending 75 weeks on the New York Times best-seller list.

3. Eclipse by Stephenie Meyer

Original pub date: Aug. 7, 2007

The book sold 150,000 copies on the first day of its release. The movie adaptation was made just three years later in 2010.

4. The Girl Who Kicked the Hornet's Nest by Stieg Larsson

Original pub date: May 2007 in Sweden (2010 in US and UK)

While this didn't appear in the US until 2010, the final installment in Larsson's series was the No. 1 most sold book in the States during that year. The movie adaptation was released in November 2009.

5. City of Bones by Cassandra Clare

After the movie didn't do quite as well as expected back in 2013, Freeform picked up the series for television in 2016, rebranding it as Shadowhunters.

This is the fourth book in the Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants series and was supposed to be the last, but Brashares published the fifth and final book in 2011. The two movies based on the series were released in 2005 and 2008. In 2016, there was talk of a possible third Sisterhood movie.
