The Amazons Got A Costume Makeover For "Justice League" And It's... Something

Quick question, who asked for this?

When Wonder Woman came out earlier this year, we got our first look at the mighty Amazons of Themyscira, and boy were they badass.

If you still haven't seen the movie (first off, shame on you) this is what the Amazons wore during battle. They were decked out in breastplates and clothing that fully covered their torsos, you know, because they had to fight some Germans who invaded their land.

These Greco-Roman-inspired armored costumes were designed by Lindy Hemming, and while she's not the costume designer for Justice League, the newest film of the DC universe, you'd think the costumes would pretty much stay the same, right?

Well, in a photo posted to Vero by Justice League director, Zack Snyder, we see that the costumes have in fact changed and now resemble, well, bikinis.

So, the Amazons are now fighting in leather bikinis. Let's take a moment to address the timeline of the two films shall we? Wonder Woman began filming in November 2015, a full five months before Justice League started productions.

That means despite having a fully developed costume design, Michael Wilkinson chose to switch ideas and put the Amazons in what honestly might be an outfit from next years Victorias Secret fashion show.

Here is what the two costumes look like side-by-side.

Dressing warrior women in bikinis is nothing new, but it is so frustrating to see a costume created by a female designer for a female directed film get tossed aside for a skimpier outfit created by a male designer for a male directed movie.
