If You Can Spot Which Sentences Have Errors, You're Smarter Than Everyone You Know

ERROR: It's "farther" when referring to distance.

ERROR: "Who" is wrong here because there is a preposition, "to," which requires the objective pronoun, "whom." Reword to "Billy doesn’t realize to whom he is talking."

He fell asleep because the  movie failed to pique his interest.

ERROR: It's spelled "miscellaneous."

Joe was used to drinking a miscellanious assortment of spirits.

ERROR: It’s cupfuls.

This Tasty recipe requires two cupsful of water.

NO ERROR. That's right, no [apostrophe](https://wmich.edu/writing/rules/degrees)!

If it weren’t for his multiple citations, he'd have an associate degree.

ERROR: It's "espresso."

He wouldn’t stop speaking, probably because he had two shots of expresso.

ERROR: It should be "shocking," not electrocuting. [Electrocution](https://public.wsu.edu/~brians/errors/electrocute.html) means the person has died.

The electrician said he’s used to accidentally electrocuting himself.

ERROR: The subject is "bottom," so the verb should be "is," not "are."

The bottom of the stairs are extremely slippery.

So you weren’t able to spot too many. That’s fine. You’re probably good at a number of other things!
