5 Simple Staging Tips To Make A House More Appealing

Staging a house to sell is an important part of the selling process. When prospective buyers tour a home they want to be able to see themselves living in that space. If the space looks like someone already lives there it’s hard to buyers to see themselves in the space. Here are 5 easy ways to stage a house that cost almost nothing and will impress potential buyers:

    Declutter

The single best way to stage a house is to get rid of clutter. Whether the buyer is looking at photos online in a real estate listing or touring a home the last thing they want to see is a lot of furniture, photos, and personal items everywhere. That makes them feel that they are seeing someone else’s home not a home that they could live in. Remove all furniture except a couple of pieces and get rid of all personal clutter. Put it in storage, put it in the garage, or have a yard sale and get rid of it.

    Take Down Family Photos

Family photos personalize a home. That makes it tough for potential buyers to see the home as their possible home. Take down family photos, awards and other items on the walls and replace them with art. The art doesn’t have to be fancy. Mass produced art from a home store is cheap and easy to get. It will make the home look decorated but not personalized and that will attract buyers.

    Replace Bathroom Linens

Bathrooms are really important to buyers. They’re not going to be impressed by a bathroom that has toiletries all over the place and mismatched towels and a loud shower curtain. Replace the bath mat, towels and shower curtain and choose white mat, towels and white fabric shower curtain. That will make the bathroom seem clean, inviting and like a spa. Clear off countertops. Put some towels in baskets near the tub and maybe add a couple of plants. Then the bathroom will look a lot more appealing to buyers even if it’s small or old.

    Add Plants

Plants are a fabulous way to make a home seem brighter and more luxurious. Place some in the entry way and in the bathrooms and add a few small ones to the kitchen too. Planters full of colorful flowers by the back door or on the patio make a great addition to the home and will make buyers feel more welcome.

Use Mirrors To Create More Light In Dark Spaces

Every home has spots that always seek dark or dim. Using mirrors can make those spaces seem brighter. Using mirrors is also a great way to make small rooms feel bigger and more spacious. Instead of using large mirrors choose a bunch of small mirrors in different sizes and shapes and group them. That will make the rooms seem larger and lighter so buyers will be impressed.
