18 "Bob's Burgers" Facts You Probably Didn't Know

The show was originally very, very different.

    1. The concept was originally a lot darker, with the Belchers using the human flesh from the crematorium next door in their burgers. Its creator, Loren Bouchard, said: “I originally thought the show should be about a family that runs a restaurant who are cannibals.”

    2. In the original drawings the characters had "big penis noses".

    3. In the test pilot there is no Tina; instead the oldest child is a boy called Daniel.

    4. John Roberts, who plays Linda, is the only actor who doesn’t use his normal talking voice. He was originally found via his YouTube videos where he played a character based on his mother, who is incredibly similar to Linda. So in some ways Roberts is playing his mother.

    5. Unlike with most animations, the Bob’s Burgers cast record together so they can play off each other. Loren Bouchard believes that this approach is ideal “If your goal is to have that little spark of naturalism and interactivity and the sense that they were in the same room at the same time or at least recording at the same time.”

    6. There’s a Bob’s Burgers and Archer crossover episode. H. Jon Benjamin plays Bob and Archer, so fans had been wanting a crossover for a while before this aired.

    12. Unlike in most animations, the cast are encouraged to improvise. H. Jon Benjamin said in an interview that “sometimes there are entire scenes that are improvised – not necessarily used in the final show”.

    13. Bob has a tattoo of his nose and moustache on his back.

    14. Bob and Louise have both been in Family Guy episodes. Bob featured in “The Simpsons Guy” and Louise in “Boopa-dee Bappa-dee”

    15. And the whole family can be spotted in the Simpsons episode “Homerland”.

    16. Bob is bisexual.

    17. H. Jon Benjamin doesn't read the scripts beforehand.
