Both Brooklyn 99 and Recess are about a troublemaker protagonist who is friends with everyone and who doesn't always play by the rules...
...and he's close with a likable but socially inept dork who dresses mostly in shades of beige and olive...
...as well as an exhausted know-it-all who can be really obnoxious and doesn't always see eye-to-eye with the protagonist, but they remain close anyway.
There's also the tough-as-nails friend who is often just referred to by her last name and who doesn't take any shit from anybody...
...and the athletic friend who shares a special connection with the protagonist and offers advice from time to time...
...and the big, lovable dummy (or dummies) who's always eating and has an unusually pleasant singing voice.
Then there's the older, no-nonsense authority figure who tries to maintain order and has no patience for the others but seems to care about their well-being...
...and that person's crony who loves gossip and is just out for themselves...
...and finally the power-hungry antagonist who will stop at nothing to destroy the protagonist and his friends.
