6 Friendly, Fun And Easy Ways To Persuade Others To Go Vegetarian!

I’m so happy to know that you are now a vegetarian and know going vegetarian is the best way to help ourselves, the environment and of course animals. But why stop there? Let’s celebrate and persuade all your friends and family that they better be (vegetarian) lol...!

How is that? Powerful!

Remember, hearing about the benefits of a vegetarian lifestyle from a friend, family member, teammate or colleague can be very powerful. So take up the fight for (you know it now, yeh!) and have a go at inviting those in your life to go vegetarian.

Here are my top tips:

Using your social media accounts, you can easily send out a thought-provoking message that will reach all your friends at once. I did share this video to all my friends and families on my Facebook. Try a creative approach like sharing your own success story, why you went vegetarian, the resources that helped you (don’t forget my blogs, buddy) on your journey or even photos of your tasty, yummy vegetarian meals. If you can, encourage comments from your friends, giving you even more chances to help people along and answer their questions.

It’s easy to overcome any prejudices against plant-based food by showing people how delicious it is. You could try throwing a dinner party for friends, offering up a menu for your family dinner, cooking an evening meal for your housemates or bringing tasty animal-friendly food and drink to parties and festive events. Perhaps you could cook a delicious vegetarian cake, the way my wife does, to share with your co-workers and only reveal that it’s vegan after the compliments have come flooding in.

Ever been at a meal with your colleagues, only to be relentlessly questioned about your choice to avoid meat and dairy products? Put a positive spin on this often frustrating situation by explaining exactly why you have chosen a plant-based diet and free of animal products, and all the fantastic benefits you’ve enjoyed – not to mention the lives you are saving!

If you’re having trouble persuading people to choose a cruelty-free lifestyle, let some of the many animal-related documentaries do the talking for you. One of them is sure to connect with an interest of someone you know. For animal lovers, why not pitch a hard-hitting look at animal rights issues by watching Blackfish? Or for those with a keen interest in environmental issues, you could suggest the fascinating documentary Cowspiracy.

You’ll still be dining with them, at restaurants, at their homes, at social gatherings, at work, and so it’ll be better for everyone involved if they know what you’re doing - they might prepare a vegetarian dish for you, or you might bring one for them to try, and if they know the reasons why. Some people might have a hard time with it. Just try to explain it to them, without getting defensive or argumentative, and ask them to be understanding (and maybe to give some of your food a try).

Don’t try to force vegetarianism on anyone, or sound preachy, but do give them more information if they’re interested.
