22 Quick Home Hacks That Will Actually Solve A Lot Of Your Problems

How to keep your house in order without actually working that hard.

We recently asked the BuzzFeed Community to tell us about the home hacks they've actually tried and swear by. Here are some of the best ones:

    1. Bend your toilet paper roll into an oval shape so your kid doesn't pull out the whole thing in one go.

    2. Rub sticker residue off your new purchases with some hand sanitizer and paper towel.

    3. Rub a drop of vanilla extract on lightbulbs to make your whole house smell delicious.

    4. Color code your kids' stuff so they don't mix up their towels, toothbrushes, or cups.

    5. Hang a shoe organizer from your utility closet door to keep all of your cleaning supplies within arm's reach.

    6. Soak cotton balls in peppermint oil and stick them in the nooks and crannies of your home to keep mice, ants, and spiders at bay.

    7. Store your spinach with a square of paper towel to absorb excess moisture — the greens will last a whole lot longer.

    8. Rub toothpaste on tarnished silver to make it shine again.

    9. Steam clothing in the dryer with a few ice cubes to de-wrinkle them without having to actually iron.

    10. Inventory everything in your fridge and freezer so you know what you need to buy when you go to the store.

    11. Trick yourself into actually doing the chores and tasks you usually put off with the one-minute rule.

    12. Cut through soap scum in the bathroom with a dryer sheet.

    13. Mix water, aloe vera, and witch hazel to make an affordable DIY makeup setting spray.

    14. Hang bras from hooks on the inside of your closet door so you aren't just stuffing them into a drawer.

    15. Sprinkle used coffee grounds on soil, instead of throwing it in the trash, to fertilize your plants and attract worms.

    16. File makeup palettes in a mail sorter.

    17. Throw your shower curtain liner in the wash with a load of whites if it starts to get mildew.

    18. Spray pet hair with water and pull it off carpet and car upholstery with a squeegee.

    19. Stick used candles in the back of your drawers or linen closet to keep them smelling nice and fresh.

    20. Keep craft supplies in a shower caddy so they stay organized whether they're stored or in use.

    21. Hang your cleaning tools from hooks so they aren't constantly falling out of your cupboard.

    22. And keep food scraps in the freezer so you can compost without stinking up your entire house.
