29 Shows "Game Of Thrones" Fans Will Probably Love

Because we've got a whole year to fill before the next season.

The next season of Game of Thrones is SO far away, so we asked the BuzzFeed Community to tell us what to watch while we wait. Here’s what they had to say.

    1. Outlander

"Outlander is an amazing show! It's about a WWII nurse who travels back in time to 1743 Scotland, and gets caught up in the Jacobite rebellion. GoT fans would love Outlander; it's sexy, funny, and full of suspense and fights! Plus it stars Sam Heughan - total babe (If you don't know him, look him up, you won't regret it)." — Emily Nitzsche

    2. Vikings

"Vikings. Absolutely. It has very well-written characters, and top-level acting. Plus, you get to watch tons of epic war scenes. Not to mention that everyone on the show is a Khal Drogo. It even has magical and mythical elements (well, not dragons or White Walkers, but gods in human form).

"But one reason should be enough for you to watch Vikings: Lagertha Lothbrok, portrayed by Katheryn Winnick. You not only see a strong independent-minded woman and mother, but also a formidable Viking shield maiden who fights alongside the men in raids and battles. She is like the upgraded version of Khaleesi." — Eray Kaşıkçı, Facebook

    3. Misfits

"I cannot say how much everyone needs to watch Misfits! It’s about a group of young offenders doing community service who then get superpowers in a storm. There are five seasons with six to eight episodes, so it’s also pretty short to watch. It’s so good! British humour at its best; the characters are so well written and played; and it’s just gory and sexy enough to satisfy GoT watchers. Bonus: Iwan Rheon (Ramsay Bolton) plays Simon (not a psychopath, but actually pretty sweet)!" — Teresaruss

    4. Da Vinci's Demons

"Check out Da Vinci’s Demons on Starz! Young, sexy Leonardo Da Vinci, who is basically Sherlock in the Middle Ages. It’s got the violence, intrigue, and nudity similar to Game of Thrones." — Whatisemily

    5. The Last Kingdom

"Highly recommend The Last Kingdom from the BBC. Another great writer's work (Bernard Cornwell – READ HIM!) being brought to TV, not fantasy, but excellent historical fiction and character development." — Loren S Casuto, Facebook

    6. Marco Polo

"It has the same stunning visuals and cinematography, and is a great depiction of a historical figure. It's reminiscent of Game of Thrones in several ways." — Areseu

    7. Orphan Black

"Orphan Black! Like GoT, it has enough deaths to keep you crying, enough humour to keep you wanting more, and enough plot twists to make binge watching a necessity!" — Erikad4ce2d86da

    8. Unreal

"On the surface it may not seem all that similiar to Game of Thrones, but it certainly matches Westeros' level of psychological manipulation, backstabbing, and power moves." — Jamie Paton, Facebook

    9. Spartacus: Blood and Sand

"It’s an amazingly gripping story, and if you liked the sex and violence on GoT then you will definitely be satisfied. The acting is phenomenal. Plenty for everyone. Although maybe not for younger viewers!" — Emilyc458084094

    10. Wynonna Earp

"Demons, characters back from the 'dead', weird half snake/half plant thingies, and a lot more to take in. Excellent writing, beautifully shot, remarkable cast members, wonderful social media, aaaannd a great ally to the LGBTQ community." —

    Maria Fernanda Hdz O, Facebook

    11. Mad Men

"I know it's a bit of a different genre than Game of Thrones, but it still has similarities, like amazing dialogue and suspense... After you finish the first season you’re hooked. And Peggy is a total badass, why would you wanna miss that?" — Stephaniem321

    12. Salem

"I think Salem is one of the most underrated shows out there. It’s about the Salem witch trials, and a witch named Mary who is extremely manipulative, charismatic, and kind of evil. It has all the intrigue and political turmoil (and gore) we love in Game of Thrones." — Janea4b241501c

    13. Supernatural

"Two sexy brothers traveling around in a sexy car, fighting sexy demons and sexy angels in trench coats with puppy dog eyes... Aside from the sexiness, it's a wonderfully well-crafted show, with fantastic storylines, character arcs, and fairly accurate representation of the occult, as far as TV shows go. A lot of the people involved with making the show were involved in The X-FIles too, so there are a lot of good elements there. The best part is, there’s 10 seasons out, so you have a lot of material to fill up the 11-month GoT gap." — Clairew469e28fce

    14. The 100

"Though it’s without a doubt a science fiction series, rather than fantasy, it presents a fantastic and diverse cast of characters in various power struggles, so it’s similar to Game of Thrones in a way. Another parallel between the shows is the complexity of the cast – none of them are black-and-white stock characters. And as a bonus, how many other shows have a teenage bisexual woman for a lead?!" — Lelahs

    15. Merlin

"It has all the great parts of GoT: dragons, knights, and magic." — Maddyoc3

    16. The Knick

"A lot of people suggest other medieval-era shows like The Tudors, but nothing like that will ever match GoT. As such, this show offers just the right amount of novelty with the same familiar intensity. It immediately filled the hole in my heart as soon as the GoT finale was over! It's based off the absolutely insane and brilliant Dr. Halsted and the crazy conditions of surgery at the turn of the 20th century." — Joshua Reeves, Facebook

    17. Black Sails

"It has a very similar style, so it's essentially GoT with pirates. It's totally badass, the characters and their development are amazing, and the story is incredible. Seriously, watch it. You won't regret it." — Missy Patten, Facebook

    18. Broadchurch

"If you love the cinematography of GoT, then you'll definitely love this British crime drama. It stars David Tennant as a washed-up detective just trying to do his job the best he can, when a young boy gets murdered in a small town where there have been no previous murders before. The look of this show is absolutely stunning and the pacing is on par with GoT, which is hard to do! This show is the definition of binge-worthy." — Alyssa Bailey, Facebook

    19. The Borgias

"Just as pretty, and has lots of intrigue, sex, murder, and power struggles. OK, there’s no magic, but it’s based on the truth and has a lustful sinner of a pope." — Kristinw49b7cbdb7/responses

    20. Hannibal

"Hannibal is easily one of the most fascinating, bizarre series of the last decade. Bryan Fuller crafted the blackest comedy imaginable, starring a top-notch cast working over a backdrop of stunning death tableaus and surreal visuals. It genuinely makes you think cannibalism is kind of sexy." — Kelseyl19

    21. Penny Dreadful

"The characters are brilliant, especially the main one. A strong female character with a thirst for blood, seeking redemption in Victorian London. Plus it's filled with characters that come from famous horror books. This is also a visually stunning show, and the problem with it? Only three seasons. But three perfectly crafted and ingenious seasons." — I4345c7f95

    22. The White Queen

"The White Queen! It's about the War of the Roses, the British war and period of political unrest that Game of Thrones is based on." — Mentalchicken11

    23. The Magicians

"The Magicians is one of my favourites. It’s kind of a cross between Harry Potter and Narnia, but much more adult. It’s about kids who go to this school called Breakbills and learn about magic. What I really like about it is that the characters aren’t entirely usual characters that you see in every show – almost all of them have a dark past. They all realise that magic truly comes from pain. It’s like all your childhood magical dreams, but darker." — Hannahh48751fa7a

    24. Sense8

"If you liked the controversial sex scenes on GoT and the brilliant character development, then Sense8 has it all. It was the show that started my binge watching." — Davidl430f76bf3

    25. Peaky Blinders

"An awesome show about Birmingham gangsters in the '20s. Beautifully shot and really fun to watch!" — Shabnamt

    26. The Tudors

"Sex, blood, violence, pretty costumes, and hot-ass men! And it’s all based on real events." — Charliec498db2387

    27. Preacher

"It’s about the same level of darkness as GoT, but it’s got funny parts too. Joe Gilgun (and really all the actors) are great in it." — Winterxair

    28. Mr Robot

"The show is fantastic, the actors are wonderful and the cinematography is the best one on TV right now. The plot deals with modern issues and politics. It’s amazing! Everybody should watch it!" — Jereglee

    29. Reign

"It’s a fantasy drama based on real people (Mary Queen of Scots), with all kinds of magic, murder, and unexpected plot twists. Plus the male cast are pretty easy on the eye." — Hazelc49b91fc86
