We asked members of the BuzzFeed Community to share the scariest fact they know about a serial killer. Here are some of the most haunting replies:
1.Ed Kemper, the "Co-Ed Killer," used his mother's decapitated head as a dartboard after he killed and sexually assaulted her.
2.Ed Kemper also voiced many audiobooks while in prison, including Star Wars and Flowers in the Attic.
3.Robert Pickton, the "Pig Farmer Killer," would process his victims' bodies in the same processor he would put pigs in to make ground pork. It is very likely that the townspeople he serviced unknowingly ate human remains.
4.Jeffrey Dahmer convinced police that his escaped, injured victim was his partner and they were having a "lover's quarrel."
5.Rosemary and Fred West murdered half their children and would tell the living children to "behave, or [they] would end up under the patio like [their other child]."
6.Joseph DeAngelo, the "Golden State Killer," called one of his surviving victims years after the assault and said, "Going to kill you...going to kill you...going to kill you."
11.Israel Keyes kidnapped a girl and sent her family a photo of her body for ransom money. The victim was assumed to be alive, but she was actually dead and Keyes had sewn her eyes open to make her appear alive in the photo.

13.Richard Chase, the Vampire of Sacramento, would check the doors of homes to see if they were locked. He believed unlocked doors were an "invitation."
14.Richard Chase was interviewed while he was in prison. During it, he pulled out a handful of macaroni and cheese and handed it to the interviewer because be believed the guards were poisoning his food.
15.Ted Bundy requested for his ashes to be spread in the Cascade Mountains of Washington State — the same place where four of his victims were found. That request was fulfilled.
17.Robert Hansen, the "Butcher Baker," was a serial killer from Alaska who would kidnap women and let them loose in the wilderness, only to hunt them down and kill them.
18.The "Oakland County Child Killer," whose identity is still unknown, kidnapped and killed Timmy King. When Timmy was reported missing, his mother wrote a letter to the local newspaper begging for his safe return so that she could feed him his favorite meal, Kentucky Fried Chicken. When Timmy's body was found, there were chicken remnants in his stomach.
19.Richard Ramirez, the "Night Stalker," was identified by his victims by his bad teeth.
